IN SEARCH OF THE SOUND OF BLUE

(an onomatopoem)

Painted toenails dainty,

against the wall a hat,

the cushion under the cat?

I bet you,

that's just a mimicking act.

Felicia amelloides more melodious,

lobelia, aristea a bold chorus,

plumbago pales

whilst disa maculata surreptitious

amongst dewdrops shades.

The sky above, forgotten – yet overheard –

in monotonic flight.

My ears gaze down

to where sunlight breaks through

the shimmering thin film of

cloud and wind’s reflection,

reveals a deep infliction:

The ocean,

surrendering out into

azure blue.
