Roet is die reuk van stilte,

die paradys, afgebrand.

Swart staan hul arms geraamte,

verbrand verbrand.

Wit lê die as onder my voete,

tot niet, tot niet.

Teer is die geur van lewe,

sal Eden herleef?

Groen spruit vars blare na buite,

bloei uit, bloei uit.

Blou hang die lug ten bowe,

daar's hoop, daars hoop.

Inspired by fynbos and its ability to regenerate after fire as seen on Table Mountain after a fire end January 2024, and how nature echo's Easter's resurrection promise.
