In December 2019, Santie Gouws, owner of fynbos whisperer, undertook an ambitious unsupported solo traverse of Reunion Island, the home of Piton des Neiges, at 3070m above sea level the highest mountain in the Indian Ocean. 

It was there, during this toughest hike of her life, surrounded by 3 million year old, 1000m high volcanic cliffs, that she decided to change her life direction to become a mountain guide, facilitating authentic connections with wild, untamed nature, for others.

EXPEDITION REUNION will re-trace Santie's steps following hide-away slave-routes through inaccessible volcanic calderas all the way to the 3070 m high summit, in time for sunrise views across the ocean.
